The Walton family is best known for its connection to Walmart, founded by brothers Sam Walton and James “Bud” Walton. Sam Walton (1918–1992) married Helen Robson Walton (1919–2007). Their four children are Samuel Robson “Rob” Walton, John T. Walton (1946–2005), Jim Walton, and Alice Walton.

John Walton’s branch includes his widow, Christy Walton, and their son Lukas Walton. Rob, Jim, and Alice are Sam and Helen’s three living children.

Sam’s brother James “Bud” Walton (1921–1995) co-founded Walmart. Bud and Audrey Walton had two daughters, Ann Walton Kroenke and Nancy Walton Laurie, forming the other major branch commonly shown in Walton family-tree summaries.

Walmart grew from the first Walmart store opened in Rogers, Arkansas, in 1962. A family tree should separate those fixed family relationships from current corporate roles, which change over time.

Walton family entities remain Walmart’s dominant shareholder group. Exact holdings change through trusts, sales, and distributions, so current percentages should be checked against Walmart’s latest proxy or SEC filings rather than treated as permanent family-tree facts.
