About this ERD example

Following is an ER diagram for online shopping system. Through visual representation by help from diagram, it illustrates the functionality as well as the operational working inside an online shopping system.

Here in this ER diagram the entities involved include the admin, user, contact, product and order. Each instance of an entity is represented by using a primary key identified by key word “PK”. A primary key is used to uniquely identify a row inside an entity.

The entity ‘admin’ consists of ad_name which acts as the primary key, ad_name which represents the name of the admin, ad_password which hold the password of the admin account, ad_email representing the email address of the admin and lastly ad-phone which contains the contact information for the admin.

The entity ‘user’ consists of us_name which acts as the primary key, us_name which represents the name of the user, us_password which hold the password of the user account, us_email representing the email address of the user and lastly us_phone which contains the contact information of the user.

The entity ‘contact’ consists of c_id which acts as the primary key, c_name representing the name of user who the contact information belongs to, c_country representing the country name for the user, c_email representing the email for the user, and c_phone representing the contact info of the user.

The entity ‘product’ consists of p_id which acts as the primary key, p_name which represents the name of the product, p_price which represents the price for the item, p_code representing the code of the product, p_warrnty specifying the warranty duration for the product and p_date which represents the date of when the item or product was uploaded.

The entity order consists of or_id which acts as the primary key, or_date representing the date for which the order was placed, p_id which represents the product id of the item present within the order, us_id representing the id of the user who bought the item, and or_quantity representing the number of items present in the order.
